Race Street Fish Market in San Jose

I have been wanting to go to Race Stret Fish Market in San Jose for months now.  We finally decided to stop by and purchased the following items:

• Clams and Mussels - Just because they looked delightful
• Snapper - The Butcher suggested the Snapper as it was one of his freshest and was reasonably priced

Cajun Snapper & Clams and Mussels with Yummy Broth

Clams and Mussels with Yummy Broth

Ingredients:

2 Garlic Coves Chopped

2 Roma Tomatoes Chopped

2 Large Garlic Cloves Chopped

1/2 Bottle of White Wine

2 tbsp Butter

1 lb Mussels

1 lb Clams

4 tbsp Chopped Parsley (Flat Leaf)

Crushed Red Pepper

Salt 

Pepper

Directions:

Saute garlic cloves and onions in a large pot.  Add crushed red pepper, salt, and pepper to taste.  Saute for approximately 5 minutes under medium heat.  Add tomatoes and saute for 1 minute.  Wash clams and mussels and place in pot.  Top with white wine and butter and cover pan.  Turn heat to high.  When clams and mussels open its ready!  Do not eat the clams and mussels that do not open!  Place in serving dish and top with parsley and fresh squeezed lemon juice.  Serve with toasty sourdough bread.

Cajun Style Snapper

Ingredients:

2 tbsp Paprika

1/2 tsp Cayenne Pepper (or to taste)

1/2 tsp Garlic Powder

1 tbsp Chili Powder

1 tbsp Cumin

Salt 

Pepper

1.5 lb Fresh Snapper

2 tbsp Chopped Fresh Parsley (Flat Leaf)

Lemon Wedges

Directions:

Mix all spices in small bowl.  Rince and dry snapper.  Rub spice mixture on snapper gently.  Heat saute pan on high with 1 - 2 tbsp of canola oil over medium - high heat.  Place snapper in pan and sear for 4 minutes on each side.  Once flesh flakes easily remove from pan.  Place on serving plates with and top with chopped parsley.  Place lemon wedges next to fish.
